A REVIEW will be completed to ensure that parking information provided to The Lights customers is correct after 11 vehicles were locked in the town's multi-storey car park.

The Advertiser was made aware that the vehicles were locked in the Chantry Centre car park, owned by Test Valley Borough Council, on Sunday, April 14.

The incident happened following comedian Henning Wehn's show at The Lights theatre. The show finished at 6pm but the car park was locked at 5pm.

An Advertiser reporter was told that the theatre recommends the car park as a place to park for events.

A spokesperson for the council said: "We are aware of the inconvenience experienced by 11 vehicles locked in the Chantry Centre car park on Sunday 14th April, particularly those attending the show at The Lights theatre.

"The Sunday operating hours of 8am to 5pm are clearly indicated within the car park, and we advise customers to check opening hours and payment information at the time of parking. Vehicles parked beyond the standard opening hours are required to wait for our emergency call-out team to facilitate exit.

"The Lights theatre offers several car parks within walking distance, including West Street and Marlborough Street, both of which are open 24/7, providing convenient options for theatregoers. These car parks are free after 4pm on weekdays and Saturdays, and all day on Sundays.

"The council will review parking information provided to The Lights visitors to ensure its accuracy and the clarity of signage within our car parks.”

"The Chantry Centre Multi Storey car park is free from 4pm - please note that the barriers close at 11pm Monday - Saturday so is suitable for parking for most of our evening shows."

The Lights was contacted for a comment about the situation but the Advertiser has not had a response.
