A WINCHESTER restaurant has helped raise more than £3,000 for the city’s homeless.

Hotel du Vin hosted a Christmas fundraiser for the Trinity Winchester, raising £3,300 for the charity which helps around 600 people annually.

The event featured champagne and canapés in the drawing room along with a charity auction organised by Liz Pauls, fundraising manager for Trinity Winchester.

Liz said: “As the economic difficulties continue our services will be needed more than ever. We rely on the generosity of our supporters to enable us to offer practical and emotional support.

“We aim to promote positive fulfilling lifestyles, emotional wellbeing and long-term changes for those experiencing the effects of homelessness, substance misuse, mental ill-health, poverty, domestic violence, unemployment and social isolation.”

She also thanked Hotel du Vin for its support.

Hotel du Vin brand director Mike Warren added: “We are pleased to support Trinity Winchester charity’s good work devoted to helping people in our community, who are homeless and vulnerably housed in Hampshire, particularly at Christmas time.”
