MUSE Developments and The University of Winchester are now partners and funders of Destination Basingstoke.
The not-for-profit company works to promote Basingstoke and the surrounding area through projects and events.
These include the Basingstoke Half Marathon, A Place to be Proud of community awards, and the INSPIRE Business Awards.
Mike Auger from Muse Developments, said: “Muse are the council’s development partners for the regeneration of Basing View and therefore have a long term interest in the future of Basingstoke.
“Becoming part of Destination Basingstoke, an organisation that is actively promoting Basingstoke as a business location, was an obvious next step that fits with our own marketing strategy.”
The vice chancellor of the University of Winchester, Joy Carter, said: “Basingstoke is a key part of the catchment of the University of Winchester, and it is very important that we are a part of the Basingstoke community connected to businesses.
“It is very much in our interests to ensure that Basingstoke is promoted as the vibrant place that it is.”
In addition, to news of Muse Developments and Computer 2000’s support, two other established core partners have agreed to become directors of Destination Basingstoke – Jonathan Pender from Phillips Solicitors and Phil James from Computer 2000.
Phil, who is finance director at the UK’s largest trade distributor of IT products and services company, based on Chineham Park, said: “I was really pleased when our company Computer 2000 became core sponsors last year.
“Now as a born and bred Basingstoke boy, I’m delighted to add my own personal commitment to Destination Basingstoke’s board.”
Jonathan, who is a partner at the Top of The Town law firm added: “This is a really important way of showing our practical as well as financial support for Destination Basingstoke and, from a business point of view, ensuring that Phillips is at the centre of decision making.”
Based at The Innovation Centre, on Basing View, Destination Basingstoke’s managing director Felicity Edwards, said: “This new commitment from major investors in the town is real evidence that Destination Basingstoke is valued as an organisation that can help businesses achieve their own objectives as well as our wider vision of promoting the town.”
