New firm Pedal Planet hoping to ride on crest of cycling wave
IT’S the Hampshire mobile cycling business with big plans.
Chandler’s Ford-based Pedal Planet is the brainchild of qualified mountain bike trainer Ray Craig, who strives to bring a personal service straight to the customer.
The business was fittingly launched at the Southampton Sky Ride on July 28 and Mr Craig, who trained as a British Cycling mountain bike leader, says he hopes the current buzz surrounding cycling nationally will help bring more people to the sport.
He said: “There has been a lot going on in the last year in cycling – it’s on such a high.
“I have been interested in trail riding and getting people out there at different levels.
“I trained in the Lake District and the Quantocks and saw small businesses like this set up there, but there is nothing like that in our area. We have great riding places as well.”
Pedal Planet gives people the opportunity to learn basic bike maintenance techniques and plan mini adventures using old and new navigation technology.
He added: “I can go to people for individual courses, or a couple, or a family. I offer basic bike maintenance, trail side repairs, and how to have a great day out cycling.
“The Sky Ride was a great event to launch it. It’s building up gradually.
“Our hopes is to build up the courses and offer more. There are areas to coach children’s groups too, and we could arrange parties for something different for families to do.”
