AXA Wealth show team spirit for St Michael's Hospice walk
THE heat was on for AXA Wealth employees as they walked up to 10 miles to raise more than £2,000 for St Michael’s Hospice.
Team spirit was extremely high at the Basingstoke-headquartered insurance and investment firm as colleagues donned their walking boots.
They had a choice of either a seven or 10-mile route, starting and finishing at Basingstoke Rugby Football Club.
Several employees walked the route in fancy dress while others decided to stretch their dogs’ legs and take them along for the ride.
There were also plenty of colleagues scattered along the route who handed out fresh water to help the walkers cope with the warm weather. With money still coming in, each individual has raised a minimum of £20. The cash will help the hospice care for people who live in the north Hampshire area who have life-limiting illnesses.
At the end of the walk, employees were rewarded for all of their efforts with a barbecue and drinks.
Prizes were handed out to the best dressed individuals and teams in fancy dress or those that had opted to ‘jazz up’ their charity t-shirts. Paul Riddell, head of strategic communi-cations at AXA Wealth, said: “The sponsored walk for St Michael’s Hospice is a successful event that we run each year.
“This year was no exception and it was great to see everyone involved having fun for a good cause. The hot weather added to the challenge, yet the determination of all those who participated helped to make it a huge success.”
