Plans for 11 extra pay and display parking splaces in Romsey
3:20pm Monday 12th August 2013 in Hampshire Business
ROMSEY is in line to have 11 extra pay and display parking spaces in the town centre.
The proposed spaces are in the former Magistrates’ Court car park in Church Street – now the offices Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC).
A planning application for a change of use from a private to a public car park has been submitted this week.
If approved this would see an extra 11 spaces available on weekdays and 20 at weekends, in addition to a permanent disabled bay.
The extra weekend spaces would be those that are retained for use by visitors to the council offices Monday to Friday.
If the change of use is approved it is anticipated that the car park will be operational by early November.
TVBC says it has other plans to create additional parking, including the creation of additional, reduced cost, long stay spaces at Romsey Rapids for those working in the town.
The council says this could free up more short and medium term spaces in the town centre for shoppers.
