BASINGSTOKE MP Maria Miller has welciomed Enterprise M3 LEP’s focus on economic growth.

The Culture Secretary received an update from the chairman of the local enterprise partnership Geoff French and the leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, who is also a member of the LEP board.

Mrs Miller heard about the Strategic Economic Plan and Local Growth Deal which the LEP is finalising before submitting to Government to bid for funds from the Local Growth Fund.

“It was good to get an update on the Enterprise M3 LEP’s activities and hear about their plans for future progress,” said Mrs Miller.

“The LEP has a great track record on partnerships, working with businesses, local authorities and other organisations across the region, to ensure that investment is targeted and the right decisions are made.

“I was particularly pleased to see the emphasis that the LEP gives to working for continued economic growth in Basingstoke.

“The LEP’s plans include tailored investment, to facilitlate and drive further economic success for the town, which will help to ensure that we remain one of the top ten centres of employment in the South East.”
