TWO Winchester men have been presented with not one but two of the most revered advertising awards following a recent campaign.
Antony Hill and Barry Christie, who both work for JWT Advertising Agency in London, were presented with two Cannes Lions, in silver and bronze, as part of their Kit Kat Android project.
They worked closely with Nestle and Google to broker a deal to name the latest android mobile operating system KITKAT which, through their communications campaign, received over 5 billion Twitter impressions.
Mr Hill, 39, head of account management, lives at King Alfred Terrace, in Hyde, with his wife Laura and their two sons Freddie, 2, and Dexter, 3 months.
Mr Christie, 42, creative director, also has two sons, Angus, 7, and Felix, 4, with his wife Henri whom he lives with at Romsey Road in Kings Somborne.
Mr Hill and Mr Christie have each worked in advertising for 15 years but say this award, which was presented during the 2014 Cannes Lion advertising festival, has marked a real turning point in their careers.
“It’s probably the award most people in advertising think of as the pinnacle,” Mr Hill said. “It’s purely based on creativity.
“Every single project you get given by the client you strive to get the best and, to be recognised above all the other jobs everyone else has done, to be noticed and celebrated by others in your peer group is wonderful.”
Mr Christie said: “All the world’s great advertising talent throw themselves into this award and only about three per cent walk away with something. So to be shortlisted is good but to win two awards is jolly good.”
