TRAIN passengers have reported feeling increasingly satisfied with South West Train services, the company has reported.

An independent survey commissioned by the business revealed that overall satisfaction is now at 81 per cent, a 1 per cent year-on-year increase.

Improved or maintained results were also reported in 30 or 37 categories, according to research by Watchdog Transport Focus.

The results follow "significant investment" by the train company.

A project to roll-out 108 extra refurbished carriages across the busiest parts of the network is now almost complete, providing space for more than 22,000 extra customers, South West Trains customer service director Arthur Pretorius said.

“It’s good news that customer satisfaction with our services has increased," he added.

"This is a credit to our employees who work hard to deliver the best service for our customers.

“We are continuing to make major investment to improve our stations and trains, and today’s results are a clear sign that this is starting to have a real impact on our customers’ journeys."
