A DIGTIAL Argos store in Basingstoke will be closing down just over a year after it opened.

The Argos in Homebase, in Winchester Road, will serve its last customer this Saturday.

The store, which was set up as a “paperless” store, with tables of tablet computers replacing the traditional laminated catalogues, paper slips and pencils, opened in the Basingstoke branch of Homebase in August 2015.

Despite the Argos in Homebase closing, it does not mean the catalogue store will be leaving the town altogether, as customers will still be able to buy goods from stores at Hatch Warren Retail Park and in The Malls.

A spokesman for Argos said: "The Argos digital in Homebase on Winchester Road, Basingstoke will not open after Saturday, September 3.

"All colleagues based there have been found alternative roles in nearby Argos stores."
