RAIL travellers at Winchester are set to face serious disruption from Monday with the part-closure of one of the station car parks.
South West Trains is closing 200 spaces until December to allow it to add a deck that will create 60 extra spaces.
The car park affected is the one off Stockbridge Road, closest to Platform 1 that takes trains to London.
The remaining spaces adjacent to the track in this car park and the decked car park closest to Platform 2 will remain open. This will be for season ticket holders only before 9.30am.
SWT says the new car park will include: an increased number of CCTV cameras, a new help point and new lighting.
In a statement the company said: "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused during the construction process and thank you for your patience during this time."
The nearest alternative car parking is: - Cattle Market car park - £7 per day; - St Catherine's Park and Ride - £3 per day; - Barfield Park and Ride - £3 per day; - South Winchester Park and Ride - £3 per day.
Customers with car park season tickets will also be able to use Andover station car park if spaces are available.
