IF YOU are looking to start your working life or make a career change, next week’s Echo Jobs Fair could have something for you.

The event takes place at the O2 Guildhall, Southampton on Tuesday, March 21.

Between 10am and 3pm a host of employers will be on hand to give advice and alert you to any opportunities that may be available.

Among the latest employers to sign up to the event are salad grower Vitacress and Hampshire Constabulary.

Vitacress Salads is now one of Europe’s leading suppliers of fresh produce, employing 1500 people across Europe.

It has a range of roles range of roles and shift patterns available – including day, twilight, nights and weekend.

There is a subsidised canteen facility on site and benefits range from, contributory pension and employee recognition, training and apprenticeship schemes.

Hampshire Constabulary has a number of uniformed and non-uniformed roles on offer.

Emma Hart, the force’s positive action co-ordinator, said: “If you have a passion for public service and want to develop your personable skills then please come and speak to the Hampshire Constabulary team at the Daily Echo Jobs Fair.

“From volunteering posts, Special Constable positions, call management opportunities and many other police staff posts. We are confident that we can help you start your career in policing.”

In addition to paid jobs several organisations will have information about volunteering. Among those is Open Sight Hampshire, the charity for the visually impaired and blind, who are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help promote their good work in the community and help with fundraising.

Jane Beesley, the charity’s strategic projects manager, said “If you are interested, and can give some time, no matter how little, we’d love to see you, to talk through how volunteering can enhance future job applications.

“In addition, if you are, or know someone who is visually impaired who may be interested in getting into employment or further education, then do pop along to their stand to hear about an exciting new project ‘Seeing the Pathway to Employment’.”

Throughout the day there’ll be a packed seminar programme giving advice and guidance on careers in popular sectors.

Members of the National Careers Service will be on hand offering one-to-one advice sessions on improving your CV, interview skills, returning to work, self employment and more.

Among the employers signed up for this year’s event are Hampshire County Council, Gala Bingo, who have customer service roles to fill, Paultons, who are looking for staff for the summer season, Carewatch, Peter Symonds, Sarum Homecare, All Care, Home Fundraising, Berry Recruitment, Pathfinder Personnel, and Autism Hampshire.

There is still space for organisations which would like to exhibit at the event.
