Chamber members were recently treated to lunch at Andover College on a beautifully sunny day.

Networking began in Anna's Bistro with canapés and a refreshing fruit punch.

A tour of the college, led by Tim Keighley, work based learning manager, gave an insight into facilities such as engineering, construction, performing arts and dance and hair and beauty.

A buffet lunch at the music academy included more networking in the garden.

Tim and his colleagues talked guests through the plans for the future, and the vision of a new complex following the predicted £40 million refurbishment, due to begin shortly. Exciting times lay ahead for the college which is part of Sparsholt, the UK's leading college for land-based industries.

Earlier in the year, Andover members and guests had enjoyed networking opportunities over drinks and light bites, sponsored and hosted by Thomas Winter Associates.

It was the first member-sponsored event in the area since Andover merged with NHCCI last year.

In doing this, Thomas Winter Associates paved the way for other local businesses to consider sponsoring an event, as was evident from the inquiries made during the course of networking.

The theme of the event was centred on The Four Great Keys To Creativity'.

Ed Thomas gave the guests an insight into the importance of creativity and the effect it has on every area of every business. He explained his company's philosophy was about asking the client questions, understanding their needs and working as a team for the client, getting them involved in the decision-making process to deliver the right solutions at the right time.

The number of attendees clearly indicated a continued and steady increase in local business interest in attending chamber events.

Chamber members in Andover attended a Speed Networking lunch at the Hampshire Golf Club. The event was hosted by Andrew Gordon, director of Action Business Limited and chairman of the East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.

Andrew explained the purpose was not to perform a sales pitch but to establish whether a benefit could be found in contacting that individual in the future. After the whistle was blown each delegate found a partner to talk to for two minutes before switching and then moving on.

There was a pause in proceedings for a buffet lunch on the balcony to enjoy a spot of sunshine.

The event was a great success and generated very positive comments, particularly due to the clear focus and fast paced nature of the activity. The exercise was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
