At the October Mutual Business Group talk inevitably turned to the credit crunch. Members offered their views, with the majority reporting steady business, despite negative headlines.

Most were keenly looking to become as efficient and effective as possible to be ready for any future national, or global, events that might impact them, while offering the very best customer care.

Members in marketing and PR reported sustained business activity, as did cartography and IT services, while aware that budgets were being spent with more care. The legal sector reported some of their services had grown, even as others declined, and most clients seemed to be taking a positive approach.

Banks represented at the meeting had continued normal operations, as they were not those bailed out by the government. However, they suggested it was vital to monitor costs and cash flow, to seek savings and tackle debtors, but understand their cash flow too.

Several members in financial services reported their trading had remained stable.
