Rich wows show with 200mph TVR

THIS gleaming immaculate 200mph TVR Cerbera supercar was a star of the Pistonheads members’ cars display at the weekend’s Autosport Inter-national Racing Car Show at the NEC.

It is the pride of Exxon Mobil control technician Rich Bradford, 32, from the New Forest who built it, with the help of friends and local specialists.

Rich bought the base car secondhand, stripped it down to the last nut and bolt – with wife Charmaine and 11 friends helping to lift the body off the chassis – then over two years rebuilt it. “My aim was to make the car I would build if I owned TVR,” he said. At the heart is a 5.7 litre supercharged Corvette V8, six-speed gearbox, custom twin 3in exhaust, Racelogic traction control and AP Racing brakes. With 509bhp it cracks 0-60mph in 4.0sec with top speed estimated at 200mph. Rich, who specially thanked Mark Soper of Sham-rock Quay for the spray job and car detailer Gary Travers for the show shine said he aims to put it through its paces at the Santa Pod drag strip and have fun at TVR track days.

“The acceleration is relentless but it can do about 20mpg,” he said.

Total cost, including buying the car?

“About £18,000 – and a lot of time!”
