Sunday Football Broughton 3 Vernham Dean 3.

AFTER several weeks of cup action, Vernham Dean returned to the league with an exciting away encounter with Broughton.

The well supported home side took an early lead, but Vernham levelled and went ahead after the break when Mark Gibbs added another two goals. Fellow striker Dave Davies also hit the back of the net. A late Broughton strike and a penalty in the last minute of injury time saw the points shared.

Abbotts Ann 4 Basingstoke Controls 0.

A below par Abbotts Ann finally defeated ten man Basingstoke Controls who showed a good deal of resolve to limit the home side to a James Kirby goal when they also had a player injured.

This effectively left them with nine men and it told as the game moved on in the second half, Kirby scored his second to shade the man of the match award. Frietag then fired in to make it 11 goals in six games and John Robb headed the fourth.

AFC Laarsens 2 Thruxton 6.

ROYAL Oak sponsored Thruxton travelled with an injury ravaged squad and fell behind to a penalty.

However the response was swift with a brace from Jamie Pollard and another from Sandy Wellsk. A ruthless spell saw Wells bag another three after good service from Adam Durrans and Mike Gustar to put the result beyond doubt. A last gasp strike from Laarsens made it 6-2.

Rangers 2 Barton Stacey 3.

A good all round team performance put Barton Stacey into the next round of the North Hants Cup.

Goals came in the first half from Nic Chandler and John Marc Spatcher with a fine performance. Rangers came back with two close range shots but hree minutes from time Spatcher latched on to a wonderful pass from Alex Iddles to score the winner.

Chute 1 AFC Riverdene 4.

FC Chute had the task of ending Basingstoke side AFC Riverdene's unbeaten run in the CJ Price Cup.

Chute took the lead through Sam Thompson but both sides had good possession with Ian Eve the busiest of the two keepers. Chute's defence looked to be coping until Riverdene levelled on the stroke of half-time.

Riverdene's finishing made the difference with three second half goals in a sporting cup tie.

Man of the match for Chute was skipper Neil Barker.

Test Valley Lions 0 KTF 2.

Test Valley Lions sponsored by www.benslimos.co.uk, crashed out of the North Hants Cup at the hands of KTF.

A battling first half display kept the score at 0-0 but unfortunately they lost man of the match Adam Bulpitt to a leg injury which subsequently left a hole in the midfield which KTF took advantage of and ran out 2-0 winners.

FC Popinjoy 6 Langdowns 6.

4-5 after penalties Langdowns travelled to Basingstoke and had to go to penalties to progress in the CJ Price Cup in a thrilling game which ended 6-6 after extra-time.

Goals from Shaun Warnes, Redmond Hutchins, Eric D'Aguilar and a hat-trick from Jamie Wells including two penalties ensured Langdowns were on level pegging after extra-time.

Langdowns despatched all five penalties to progress.
