The Emerging Players tournament took place in Havant for Andover Minis in U7, U8, U9 and U11, with the U8s winning the plate in their group.
The Chapple Scaffolding sponsored U8s beat Gosport and Fareham 8-3 and Portsmouth 7-3 and drew with Salisbury 5-5 qualifying them for the plate against Alton. This was a tough match and produced a very hard fought and well deserved 9-8 win.
A total of 36 tries were scored with Owen Roll (5) Tom Smith (8) and stunning try scorer of the day Thomas Searles (16).
The U11s faced tough competition but did not progress beyond the pool stage despite losing only one match and conceding only four tries. Try scorers: Tom Line and Ed Scobie.
For the second year running the Dig Landscaping sponsored U10 Panthers progressed to the semi-finals, but just missed out on bringing home some silverware. With the same record as Alton they were just edged into pool runners-up on the total number of tries scored and met a much-fancied Winchester side in the quarter-finals. Winger Charlie Donnelly gave the Panthers the only try and a well deserved win 1-0. In the semi-final against New Milton, they went down in a hard fought tussle 2-0. Try scorers: Charlie Donnelly (3), Jordan Gray (2), Fergus Hamilton (2) and Matt Pawley.
The Stingrays U10s lost to Effingham and Leatherhead but in their second game each time New Milton scored, they were answered by a try from the Stingrays. In the second half New Milton scored the winning try. Stingrays try scorer: Mitchell Bennett (2).
In their third match against Havant Stingrays levelled the match 2-2 as the final whistle blew. Try scorers Mitchell Bennett and Olly Newcombe. The last match was against a strong Alton team and, despite another good team effort, Stingrays lost 4-0. Star of the week award went to Mitchell Bennett.
