Andover's continuing rise in prominence has been underlined by the support of local businesses for this year's Classic.
Local companies have rewarded the town's players with a hefty increase of sponsorship which is set to take funds over the £4,500 mark this Easter. Over the last 12 months standards and performances have continued to improve and coupled with the steady emergence of Academy prospects, 36 Andover darters will be chasing the £1,500 winners' cheque.
l In week ten of the Academy, juniors Olli Burgess and Harry Lawton topped the boy's pairs with four wins from four and there was a good night's work from Kelly Paine, Rob Jones and Ryan Morgans. In the senior section, Danielle Hopper came top of the night's out-shot clinic while Billy Day and Sean White topped the A list singles each registering five wins from six.
White and Arron Monk shared the fastest leg both recording 14-dart legs. In the team games there were good 2-0 wins for Christine Pike with Ashlee Newman notching the top ladies' finish with 54. In the other match Jake Urwin (82) and Craig Pike (77) provided the best finishes and there were other good wins for Ray Lockington, David McFadden, Liam Deavall and Ben Lock.
Tomorrow's Micky Collins singles has sold out and is the fifth consecutive tournament to do so. It is the final event before this year's Classic which takes place on the fifth of next month.
