Well loved broadcaster comes to Andover

10:38am Tuesday 13th May 2008

ONE of the best known and most loved broadcasters in Britain is appearing at The Lights in Andover on 30 May at 7.30pm.

Johnnie Walker began his career with pirate radio but it took him all the way to Buckingham Palace and an MBE.

Johnnie, with a voice recognised by millions, is obsessed with music.

When he was young he longed to move the crowd with the kinds of beats he found irresistible.

DJing in local dance halls and pubs around his childhood home in Solihull gave him a taste for playing his beloved music and his success showed he had real talent.

With luck and not a little front he swung himself a slot on the newly-launched pirate station Radio England where his incredible career began.

Now he tells the full and extraordinary story of 40 years at the heart of British broadcasting working at Radio England, Radio Caroline, BBC Radio 1 and 2 as well as about the people he has met and worked with.

Tickets costing £14 are available from the box office on 01264 368368 or online at www.thelights.org.uk
