AN INCREDIBLE story of one man’s obsession with Everest and his journey to conquer it not once, but 12 times, will be coming to Andover this month.

Kenton Cool: One Man’s Everest will be at The Lights on Wednesday 20 September.

And THREE lucky readers have the chance to win a pair of tickets to the show at 7.45pm.

Kenton’s obsession with climbing developed at school, in the Scouts and was furthered at the University of Leeds.

In 1996 he suffered a fall from a rock face in North Wales and shattered both heel bones and was told that he would never walk unaided again.

After almost a year of rehabilitation Kenton started to climb extensively all over the world - establishing new routes and first ascents on peaks in Alaska, France, India, Pakistan and Nepal.

He received a nomination for the Piolet d’Or – mountaineering’s equivalent of an Oscar.

He now has a staggering 12 summits of Everest to his name.

In recent years the Olympic Games Pledge and the Everest Triple Crown – Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse - a feat previously thought impossible, have cemented Kenton’s position as one of Britain’s most high-profile and celebrated climbers.

Kenton is the only Briton to have skied down two 8,000m peaks and in 2009 he guided Sir Ranulph Fiennes to the summit of Everest, helping raise more than £3 million for charity.
