PREVIEW:

Theatre Fest West, Various locations in Salisbury

RETURNING to Salisbury on Friday, 9 February for its seventh year, Theatre Fest West celebrates performance arts across the south west.

With the second week of planned performances underway now until 24 February, Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury Arts Centre have once again joined forces with various other local performance centres, to present some of the most interesting companies from across the region.

Throughout the week, a plentiful list of performances will entertain audiences across the city.

Tonight, Inkbloc Ensemble presents Lego Beach at Salisbury Arts Centre, asking if 4.8 million pieces of LEGO washed up on your shore, what would you build?

In 1997 a freak storm exposed a container-ship of LEGO to the power of the tide, scattering the pieces across the ocean floor. Based loosely on this true series of events, the story follows a small community, haunted by washed up LEGO bricks for the last 20 years.

Tomorrow, Half the World Away, A Foursquare Theatre production, will be appearing at The Salberg, at Salisbury Playhouse. This nostalgic time-warp comedy pits the question, what if your imaginary friend never left? Described by audiences as “Monty Python meets Waiting for Godot” and “brilliantly bonkers”, odds are this comedic 1990’s regression will leave you in hysterics.

The Great Train Robbery A Scratchworks Theatre production appears at The Salberg, Salisbury Playhouse, on Thursday, 22 February. It’s 1963; the heist of the century is underway. Five days later the first clues are found, the gang is busted and the rest is history. But what about the ones that got away?

In this reimagined version based on true events, the anonymous four that got away were women, hired to clean the robbers’ hide-out.

After all, in 1963 who would suspect a woman?
