HAVING sadly been forced to shut earlier this year due to flooding, the Crown Inn has now happily fully re-opened.

And it was clear as soon as I walked through the doors that King’s Somborne villagers have welcomed the inn back with open arms.

The tables inside were full of families and groups dining while others were making full use of the large beer garden to soak up the sunshine.

And it is clear why the pub is such a village favourite.

Glancing down the substantial menu, the prices are very reasonable, with all the pub classics like steak and ale pie, fish and chips and the Crown burger for under £12.

I partook in the fish and chips, followed by a fruit crumble with ice cream.

The portion sizes were large and tasted satisfying too. The batter was golden and crispy while the haddock was tender and tasty, accompanied by a generous serving of chunky chips, peas and tartar sauce.

Luckily there was just about room for pudding and the fruit crumble with smooth ice cream was a perfect way to finish the meal.

The husband was very pleased with the choice of ales and ciders on tap and particularly enjoyed an Addlestones cloudy cider.

It is clear to see why this pub is a favourite in King’s Somborne.
