Hannah's bid for stardom
AN Andover girl is one step closer to achieving her dream as she prepares to sing in the regional finals of Live and Unsigned 2008.
Hannah Ashmore, from Suffolk Road, was thrilled when she won a place after performing Rihanna's Unfaithful in the recent semi-final and now hopes she can go all the way.
The 15-year-old singer will now be facing the judges as well as a large audience in the regional finals in Aldershot on 5 April.
Hannah will be performing her own version of Mad World by Tears for Fears which was covered by Gary Jules in 2003.
"It was brilliant at the semi-final and I was ecstatic when my name was called out to go to the final," she said.
"I ran out on stage screaming with excitement.
"It was an amazing feeling and I now can't wait until the final.
"I started working on my next song almost as soon as I got home."
If she is successful then the competition doesn't end there for the teenager.
If Hannah wins the regional finals she is automatically put through to the grand final at the end of June in one of London's big theatres competing against all the other regional finalists from across the country.
This is where she could win the chance to record songs for an album as well as having the opportunity to sing with a successful band.
"If I won the regional finals and then ended up winning the grand final in London I would be over the moon," she said.
"It really would be a dream come true and I'd love it if the band I sing with is Westlife - they're amazing.
"Singing really is my biggest ambition at the moment and it means absolutely everything to me.
"It's definitely something I want to pursue as a career as it's all I can think about."
If anyone wants to attend the regional final on 5 April to support the Andover teenager tickets costing £7.50 are available from 01264 350408.
