Fines (and wardens titles) set to change
PARKING in the Test Valley is set to change from Monday, 31 March with new penalty charges being imposed.
Currently the penalty charge is £60 but this is changing with a new method of assigning fines to drivers depending on the seriousness of the offence.
Overstaying in limited waiting bays or an expired car park ticket will lead to a fine of £50 but a higher charge of £70 will be given for offences such as parking on yellow lines.
For each level of charge a 50 per cent discount will be offered for payment within 14 days but a 50 per cent increase will be added to the fine if payment is delayed.
These changes are being introduced in an attempt to improve the clarity and transparency of parking enforcement policies after the Department of Transport undertook a review of them.
The parking wardens who will become known as Civil Enforcement Officers, will be patrolling all public car parks and roads in the Test Valley excluding trunk roads.
