| Whitchurch Toy Library: Children can look forward to more toys. |
A CASH boost has been given to Whitchurch Toy Library by the Early Education and Childcare Unit at Hampshire County Council.
The volunteer-run group has been presented with £800 to spend on more toys which, for a nominal fee, can be lent out by parents of young children.
Treasurer Gill Newton said: "The group is open to all parents, grand parents, child minders, baby and toddler groups and pre-school.
"We have probably got about 50 families as members in the Whitchurch area - between 10 and 15 families - turn up each time.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for parents to try toys before they buy them."
The toy library has been running for three years at Whitchurch Methodist Church on Wednesdays between 10am and 11.30am during term time.
The group is part of the National Association of Toy Libraries which offers services to local families based on regular toy loans.
"We have bought more for the older child, musical instruments, science and nature equipment and toys for pre- school children," added Gill.
"We also bought some outdoor play equipment."
