ANDOVER racer Dawn Boyd made the long trip to Pembrey in West Wales for the latest rounds of this seasons mini challenge races.
Dawn races in the club class of the challenge and shares the track with the faster S class cars. It was a busy schedule with two qualifying sessions on Saturday followed by two races each day.
A heavy storm on Friday night meant Dawn was greeted with a damp circuit making good lap times tricky. The track was starting to dry when she had her second qualifying session finishing seventh in class.
Race one was from a standing start and Dawn made a good clean start and was soon in the huge pack behind the leading group. As the chequered flag was taken she was 14th overall and fourth in class. Another 20 minute race was held late in the afternoon where she finished sixth in class and 16th overall.
Sunday morning brought clear skies and sunshine and her first race eventually ended behind the safety car and Dawn was home in 16th place overall and sixth in class again.
He final race of a busy weekend had a rolling start and Dawn was hit by a car from the other class going round the 1st corner meaning she lost some places. Further round the track her brakes failed and she went straight on at an 80mph corner, ending up in the tyre wall.
The car was damaged but reparable and Dawn was bruised but otherwise ok.
She now moves onto Croft, near Darlington for the next rounds.
