Great weekend of sport, music and fun

THERE was much to enjoy over the weekend as the Big Festival took centre stage, despite the best efforts of the weather.
Sport and physical activity organisations turned out in force on Saturday at Vigo Road Park.
Thousands of people turned up to try their hand at have-ago-sessions including a climbing wall, fun competitions, inflatable games, dance sessions and a synthetic ice rink.
The aim was to raise awareness of physical activity possibilities provided by a variety of organisations.
Andover MP Sir George Young, a keen cyclist, said: "I looked in on a number of local clubs that were there during the day - Andover Tennis Club and the Andover Wheelers.
"They were inviting the passing trade to see how far they could go on a bicycle in a minute. I think my result was in the middle of the field. "I very much welcome this event, which raised the profile of sporting activity in the town. All the stands I visited reported a good response, and I am sure this is good news for the town's waistline."
The heavens really opened on Sunday for the second big event of the weekend - the Andover Live Summer Sounds East Meets West show.
There was plenty of fine music from a number of bands during the afternoon, walkabout acts - including the Geisha Girls - arts and crafts workshops.
One two-year-old, however, is desperate to have a very special teddy returned to her. It was given to her when she was born by her father, who died last year, making that tiny teddy such an important gift.
If you found a lost teddy contact the Andover newsdesk on 01264 321205
