| Charity ironing marathon: Ben Walton's latest fundraiser. |
IRON man Ben Walton has already broken one world record as he closes in on the halfway point of his charity ironing marathon.
The owner of Ben's Dry Cleaners, currently 26 hours into his 60-hour challenge, has already surpassed the current record for most items ironed in one sitting by pressing 385 pieces of clothing.
He says that having to stand up during the task is one of his biggest problems - but he has had just one hour away from his ironing board so far.
"Hopefully we are going to get seven or eight hundred pieces done. I have to do 56 hours to break the record for time, but I'll go to 60 if I can."
The challenge, taking place at the Asda store in Anton Mill Road, is set to run until 8pm on Saturday. Ben is accepting ironing from the public for donations - he is raising money for the Royal Hampshire County Hospital's Neo-natal unit.
