Fluoride debate returns

THE fluoridation debate will be moving onto Andover's doorstep from 8 September when proposals to fluoridate the water supply of 200,000 south Hampshire residents go out to public consultation.

The consultation period will last for three months and include drop-in events and Question Time style debates.

The start of the consultation has been put back at the request of local authorites.

Plans to add the controversial substance to water supplies have been put forward as a way of fighting chronic tooth decay in children in areas of deprivation.

Some health chiefs believe that around 15 per cent more children would be free of tooth decay if the amount of fluoride in water was increased but sceptics question the benefits and argue that mass-medication is linked to health prob- lems.

The issue caused massive public controversy in 1950s Andover and resulted in major changes to the membership of the Andover Borough Council, which in those days had responsibility for water supplies.

Please look at fluoridealert.org as the accepted science on ingested fluoride has changed. The policy has not. Most dentists do not know the current research as Yoder K.M. on Pub med shows clearly, Go directly to the EPA Union website and read the opposition has grown with the scientists from one union in 1986 to 19 in 2008. They want immediate moratorium and congressional investigations into the fraud. Ingested fluoride has no dental benefit but 51% of children now have enamel damage from fluoride overdose said the Pizzo review 2007.Read the science yourself as the Dentists have not. Fluoride damages like arsenic and lead cumulative over time to most body systems. Jim Schultz

The fluoridation theory was based on natural calcium fluoride which is known to be at least 25 less toxic for killing rats on a LD50 scale then the H2SiF6 which comes direct from smokestack pollution scrubbers. It just happens to be loaded with 20 plus contaminates with arsenic and lead at the top. Many are radioactive as the same mines also produced uranium and had extraction units that produced 75% of the yellow cake uranium for the US nukes and reactors until 1993 when the price fell and the recovery stopped just leaving it in all the products as the free radioactive bonus. All of this is hidden from the public but there is no safe level of arsenic, lead, radium, polonium 210,u238 uranium and so on as they are cumulative toxins also staying in your body forever just like fluoride. Fluoride just has a huge PR team that claims benefit. Clearly if any ingested benefit exists it is exceeded by enamel damaged by dental fluorosis. Never confuse topical with ingested which is the goal of fluoride promoters. The health services last week just alerted parents that weak toothpaste below 1000ppm had little benefit. With no proof of drinking fluoridated water at 1ppm having any topical effect it is stupid to drink it. The researchers have proven no ingested benefit to childrens teeth as they form. That used to be the total theory but somehow the theory has morphed with no science to support that it is only a benefit to erupted teeth in a topical manor. That leave ZERO logic for giving to expecting mothers and babies. This is just a failed policy where lies and deception is the norm. The health department people might be willing to state positions but know they will have their heads handed to them in a debate. They believe repeating a lie often is best. The address the health issues raised would only make them known better. The Author of the 2000 York review had to come foreward to state that the York neither proved fluoridation safe nor effective. The 3200 studies claiming benefit had not one high quality bias unlikely study. The first studies would not qualify as science as the design is very poor. Examiner variability can easily be greater then the effect you are looking for which is now being admitted by the CDC. When the data was review it often shows little benefit or none. The biggest study in the US was not released to the public until after freedom of information requests. The data on 39,207 students showed no difference in cavities between fluoridated and unfluoridated overall. Instead they reported on 5 year olds where delayed eruption gave the appearance of a small benefit of 18%. The study actually shows fluoridation a total fraud. Read the analysis and 10 pages of charts etc that prove this on fluoridealert.org.
You can read the request of immediate moratorium by 11 EPA professional unions to congress in 2005. They thought cancer data alone plus the fact of no ingested benefit means we need congressional investigations. This opposition began in 1986 with a lawsuit to EPA to halt fluoridation as a violation of SDWA. You can see this on the scientists website at nteu280.org .Just click on fluoride and see the position papers.
Remember the FDA has never reviewed or approved any ingested fluoride product ever. They see it as a new unapproved chemical sort of on the basis of use prior to 1938 but admitted to Sally Stride in a email that was as a effective rat poison as they could find no human uses. No government agency ever did one study on the H2SiF6 being to complex a blend of contaminates that vary with every batch and often greatly. We are the human disposal units but 99% plus will just drain down the drain into our rivers ,soil ,plants and fish etc. Fluoride does not break down and our bodies retain it forever as a cumulative toxin building with every unmonitored dose. Science not political spin. This will only damage kids but poor kids the worst. The most recent review Pizzo 2007 shows ZERO reduction of social inequities. Nutrition and care is not equal. Burt 2007 shows nutrition and having a dentist and hygiene at home are always the issue not fluoride water. Soda fizzy drinks and sports drinks have high acid and sugar levels and can destroy enamel. Pure water is best with healthy minerals like calcium magnesium phosphorus and you must have vitamin d for all this to work. Jim Schultz
