AN application to fell an oak tree east of the entrance to The Silos at Roman Road Amport, has been refused by Test Valley Borough Council.
Officials say the measure would be excessive and other solutions are available to improve visibility along the road.
Transport engineers have recommended that low scrub either side of the entrance be cut to ground level.
