£1K grant is music to their ears

First published in News

THE community work carried out by Andover Town Band has been recognised by a grant from the Test Valley Arts Foundation.

The brass band received the Morrison Music Award for £1,000 at Chapel Arts Studio in Andover.

The money will be used for the purchase of musical instruments and the commissioning of new work.

Ian Morrison, who donated half the money towards the award that bears his name, said he was particularly pleased to support the band in view of their achievements with young people in the town.

He said he had happened to be in the town centre during a recent farmers’ market on a Sunday, had heard the band playing and been extremely impressed.

This autumn Test Valley Arts Foundation has awarded four grants in support of art and music projects in Test Valley.
