ANDOVER paid its respects to all those who have given their lives for their country at the town’s Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.
Hundreds gathered at St Mary’s Church to remember the fallen servicemen and women who made the greatest sacrifice of all.
The town fell silent at 11am as a mark of respect for the brave men and women who have died in the line of duty from the First World War to ongoing operations today.
The Remembrance Day paraders marched along Eastern Avenue and East Street to the church before poppy wreaths were laid and a memorial service was held, all under a flypast by the Army Air Corps.
Duncan Powell, chairman of the Royal British Legion in Andover, said: “We were very pleased with the turn out and support and I think the attendance at the churchyard was absolutely amazing as people came out to pay their respects.
“The big crowds were fantastic and it was great to see – a real credit to the town.”
Brian Page, president of the Royal British Legion, said: “We were so blessed with the perfect weather and the numbers who attended. It was great to have all the bands and young people involved as well on the day.”
