THE Right Reverend, Peter Hancock, Bishop of Basingstoke, has blessed the new extension at Kimpton, Thruxton and Fyfield Church of England Primary School.

Bishop Peter was joined by Canon Ian Tomlinson and Reverend Ann McKenzie, members of the school and local community, and other invited guests including Sir George Young, the architect, Sue Masser of Masser Architects, and representatives from Dorelbury Builders.

Bishop Peter blessed the extension which was funded by the Diocese of Portsmouth and Winchester and includes a purpose- built classroom for the school’s reception children, a new staff room and an inclusion room.

Bishop Peter later enjoyed a fish and chip lunch and spent time chatting with guests, children and parents about school and the excitement of the new build.

Children in Year 6 showed Bishop Peter around the new extension and were delighted that Bishop Peter had great fun bouncing on the school’s new tyre park, donated to the school by its PTA.

Pam Simpson, headteacher, said: “It was a wonderful occasion and we were all delighted that Bishop Peter was able to join us and bless our new building.

“We are delighted with our extension and we are all enjoying the brand new facilities very much.”
