RAIL users faced lengthy delays this morning as services on the West of England line through Andover were cancelled or subject to lengthy delays.
The problems were the result of signalling problems in the Tisbury area.
Commuters hoping to catch the 7.07am train from Salisbury to Waterloo were disappointed after it was first delayed by more than an hour and then South West Trains decided to run it as a fast service to Basingstoke not calling at Grateley, Whitchurch, Andover and Overton.
Passengers bound for those stations who had boarded the train were asked to decant and wait for a later train.
Some down services to Exeter were diverted via Westbury to avoid the Tisbury bottleneck.
