SCHOOLS, colleges, businesses and individuals donned their spotty clothes and took part in a number of activities to raise money for Children in Need last Friday.
Pupils from Anton Junior School, Andover CE Primary School, Clarendon Junior School and Andover College were among hundreds of people across the region who did their bit towards raising nearly £26.8m by the end of the six-hour telethon.
Andover resident Helen Terry, who has learning disabilities and multiple sclerosis, has been an avid supporter of Children in Need, placing all her loose change into a bucket throughout the year and also rattling her collection bucket under the noses of her friends at the Gateway Club before handing it all over.
“I wanted to help children from poor families and broken-down families,”
she said.
The presenters of the BBC’s The One Show pedalled their way through Andover on Thursday morning last week as part of their Rickshaw Challenge for Children in Need.
The challenge saw children pedalling a rickshaw from Wales to London, accompanied by the show’s team, various celebrities along the way and Pudsey bear.
The team stopped at a number of schools, including a slight detour to Icknield Special School.
