A WOMAN walking with a pushchair was robbed of her handbag.

At some time between 5pm and 5.10pm on Saturday, 24 November the 20-year-old victim was in an alleyway at the back of Dexter Square, Cricketers Way, Andover, with her son in a pushchair.

As she walked along the alleyway she was approached from behind by a man who then took hold of the strap of her handbag and removed it from her shoulder.

He then ran off with the handbag in the direction of the railway line that separates the Cricketers Way estate from the River Way estate. The handbag contained £40 in cash and three bank cards.

Pc Glen Dawber said: “Due to the incident happening so quickly the victim was unable to describe the offender. However, she did recall that there were a group of around five to ten people nearby and it is thought that someone in this group may have seen or heard something.

“As always I would encourage members of the community to be vigilant, and avoid isolated locations when they are out and about in the dark.”

Anyone with any information should contact Pc Dawber at Andover police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
