A MAN has been charged with attempted murder, rape, robbery and sexual assault after an incident in Andover.

Dean Goodwin was arrested in his home town of Poole, Dorset, after a string of alleged offences sparked a manhunt for the 32-year-old.

Hampshire police charged Mr Goodwin following reports of a woman allegedly being attacked as she walked through a covered alleyway which runs through Winton Court in the Heath Vale area of Andover.

Mr Goodwin was due to appear at Bournemouth Magistrates Court yesterday morning.

Alongside the charges related to the Andover incident Dorset police have also charged Goodwin with four counts of rape and one of false imprisonment.

He has also been charged in connection with a burglary of a house in Wimborne and a commercial burglary in Wallisdown, Bournemouth.

Andover police officers are still appealing for information following the alleged incident on Monday.
