JOHN Hanson School’s Young Enterprise programme students will be showing off their business acumen by selling pick and mix Christmas stockings at the Mall in Basingstoke on Saturday.

The school joined the programme in October this year and is the first school in Andover to be part of the North Hampshire board.

The group consists of 15 Year 10 Business Studies students who meet on a Thursday afternoon as part of the school’s extra-curricular programme.

The company name is ‘Andover Your Money’ and their managing director is Josh Wheeler.

Their main product will be to offer a service to the schools in Andover providing them with Year 11 leavers’ hoodies.

The students recently came joint first at a Dragons Den event held at Queen Mary’s College in Basingstoke.

Andrew Bulpitt, the MC of the evening said: “The team gave a very confident pitch – if they deliver what they have said, then I think they may have a great chance to go on to win the area annual award.”

Teacher of Business, Freddie Carr, said: “Young Enterprise is a great scheme that allows the students to work with business professionals and to put the theory that they learn in the classroom into practice.”

Father Christmas will also be joining the students at the shopping centre.
