POLICE are appealing for information following a theft from a Royal Mail vehicle in Andover on Thursday.

Between 11.45am and 12.15pm on 6 December the victim parked his delivery van in Elbe Way, Andover while he completed deliveries. The offender/s gained entry to the van and stole a black back pack with a white Nike logo on it, which contained a Royal Mail fleece, bank cards, £25 cash and Primark vouchers.

PC Neil Plascott, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have witnessed what happened or seen someone with the stolen property. “A man was seen in the area with a bag matching the description of the stolen back pack. He is described as being dressed in black, with tanned skin and a ‘dreadlock hair style.’ “I would urge anyone with any information about this man to come forward and speak to us.

“The Royal Mail fleece was inside the stolen back pack and it is not thought that it was stolen intentionally for criminal purposes, however as always we would advise that members of the public always ask for ID when they receive callers at their address.

“All vehicle owners are advised not to leave valuables in their vehicles but if absolutely necessary to do so, to ensure they are out of view.”

Anyone with any information should contact PC Plascott at Andover police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
