PUPILS at the Wellington Academy recently competed in the Rotary Young Photographer competition, run by Marlborough Rotary Club and photography teacher Kayleigh Furnell.
Each entrant had to produce three photographs with the theme of peace, and there were 14 entries.
Three highly-skilled judges struggled to choose between the entries, but after much consideration the winner of the senior class was 17-yearold Megan Halden, while Joyce Seabrook, 14, won the intermediate class.
The judges all agreed that the quality of the entries was extremely high, and represented the standards promoted by the school and the art department.
Prizes were presented to the two winners by senior vice-president of Marlborough and District Rotary Club Paul Cowan.
Kayleigh Furnell was presented with a bunch of flowers, in recognition of her support for the competition.
The two winners now progress to the next stage of the competition, to be held in April, before the national finals in May.
