THE Met Office is predicting snow for North West Hampshire overnight tonight.
Snow is expected to reach the Tidworth area first just before mightnight then move east to Andover in the early hours.
Forecasters say it will be light to begin with but there may well be a period of more sustained heavy snowfall for a time.
Hilly areas are expected to see the most snow and some travel problems could be experienced in the early commute to work.
Any lingering snow is expected to turn to rain on Monday afternoon across the whole area.
Hampshire County Council says its salt barns are stocked with 15 days' salting supplies and also that 100 farmers are on standby to help clear any snow.
Council leader Ken Thornber said: "Persistent sleet could cause already high water levels in rivers and streams to rise further and if this happens there is the possibility of water spilling on to the roads which would diminish the efficacy of any salting."
He also urged people to keep a look out for elderly neighbours in cold weather, especially in rural areas.
