£150k to research project
11:00am Monday 21st January 2013 in News
ANDOVER’s Simplyhealth is aiming to raise £150,000 this year to fund a joint research project with Heart Research UK to look at the link between heart and dental health.
Using TV adverts, the first aired on Monday and which will continue to be shown until 10 March, Simplyhealth is asking viewers to go to the Simplyhealth UK Facebook page and click ‘Like’.
Simplyhealth, which is a mutual society and one of Andover’s largest employers, will donate £1 to Heart Research UK for every ‘Like’.
Viewers can also learn how the research grant process works, read highlights of research from medical institutes, read free health guides on dental health and heart health, and watch videos.
Clare Lee, head of brand at Simplyhealth, said: “With the help of our Facebook fans, we aim to donate £150,000 to fund a project that helps us understand more about how dental health can affect our heart.
“There have been over 50 studies investigating whether the extent of gum disease puts people at a greater risk of heart disease.
“Further research is needed, which is why we would like to support Heart Research UK.”
As well as guides and videos, visitors to Simplyhealth’s Facebook page can show their support and become ‘Simplyhealth Supporters’.
