Wiltshire Council issues snow warning

People are being urged to take care if they are out and about this evening and first thing tomorrow as widespread snow is expected to fall across Wiltshire.

Freezing temperatures coupled with snow, up to 4 inches deep on high ground and liable to drift, could cause difficult driving conditions.

Snow is predicted to fall across Wiltshire from 6pm this evening becoming heavier overnight.

Wiltshire Council is salting the primary routes this afternoon, and teams will carry on monitoring the situation with crews on standby throughout the night.

Pedestrians and motorists are urged to take care if they decide to travel. Streetscene teams have been clearing some footways and town and parish councils have activated their local snow plans using salt and equipment Wiltshire Council has provided
