HOPES are rising that a number of minor injury health facilities axed under the last government in Wiltshire could be reinstated.

The changes meant that there were no minor injury units left in Claire Perry’s Devizes constituency, which covers Tidworth and Ludgershall.

Claire Perry says she was delighted to hear earlier this week that the Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is committed to providing communitybased minor injury care throughout Wiltshire and that the provision of urgent and immediate care has been made a key priority.

The CCG assumes responsibility for commissioning healthcare services from 1 April.

A review of urgent care across Wiltshire is now under way and this includes work with GP practices, Great Western Hospital, Wiltshire Council and Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership for a development proposal to be planned.

The CCG hope that by early summer, the development plan will be completed for review and this will be followed in the autumn by a period of consultation over three to four months with users and stakeholders.

Claire Perry said: “I am delighted that the CCG have recognised the importance of local minor injuries care for my constituents.

“Since 2006, when the units in Devizes and Marlborough closed, they have needed to travel long distances to access minor injuries care.

“I am very much looking forward to seeing the proposals in a few months' time.”
