Dismay at high-tech let down

LUDGERSHALL town councillors have expressed some dismay at the state of a hightech feature at Castledown Business Centre.

Town councillor Tony Pickernell wondered why, more than a year after it was unveiled, the glazed area and its innovative photo voltaic panels are still not in use.

Wiltshire councillor Chris Williams said that investigations are ongoing to find out who is at fault and who is responsible – but it is ‘not going to cost Wiltshire Council.’ He said the issue could be brought up at the next area board meeting.

In response to our inquiry, a Wiltshire Council spokesman said: “There is an issue with glass panels in one section of the innovation suite building at Castledown Business Centre.

“We are clarifying whether the responsibility lies with the designers or the contractors who installed the panels, so this matter can be resolved as soon as possible.

“The units are unaffected by this issue and they are fully let to local businesses which continue to thrive thanks to the unique support provided by the centre.”

The next meeting of Tidworth Area Board will be on Monday, 18 March at Castle Primary School in Ludgershall, starting at 7pm
