Mayor opens new footpath Mayor opens new footpath

A NEW footpath at Admirals Way open space was officially opened on Saturday by the Mayor of Test Valley Borough Council Dorothy Baverstock.

The council has worked closely with local residents to deliver the project which will provide a safe, non-slippery surface for people to exercise and enable children to ride their bikes and scooters.

Cllr Baverstock cut the ribbon just after midday and local councillors Iris Andersen and Nigel Long were in also attendance along with Christina Sharp who led the petition for the path.

Sam Plummer, chairman of the Admirals Way community website, said: “We had a really fantastic afternoon opening the new path and it really is going to make a big difference to the area.

“Snowdrops were also planted after the ribbon cutting by residents and children and the whole area is looking great.”
