Market visit for pupils

STOCKBRIDGE Country Market was host to some special guests last Thursday, when the Sprat and Winkle Class from Stockbridge Primary School paid a visit.

As part of a project on food and where it comes from, their teacher Polly Hutchinson thought the local country market would be a great place to start – especially as the children hope to be growing their own vegetables in the future.

Market chairman Michaela Nadal said: “We were delighted to welcome the children to the market – and with locally sourced eggs, vegetables, honey, jams and all sorts of cooked foods, they could actually speak to the producers who supply the market; even our local beekeeper was on hand to answer questions.

“Knowing where our food comes from and cutting carbon footprints is on everyone’s mind these days, and local country markets help people do this.”
