Drugs dog in Whitchurch

A POLICE dog helped officers search for drugs in Whitchurch.

The operation, which took place on Friday, 8 March, was prompted by concerns from residents about people using drugs. Local officers used a force passive drugs detection dog to target areas of the town centre.

Several people were spoken to by officers and the dog only indicated that one person had been in contact with drugs. The man was searched, but nothing was found.

Information leaflets were given out to members of the public to explain what officers were doing.

Pc Paula Deery said: “This operation was planned in response to concerns from local residents.

“We utilised the passive drugs detection dog to send out a strong message to people who live in or visit Whitchurch that drugs are not welcome here.”

If you have concerns or questions about drugs in your area, contact Pc Deery at Whitchurch Police Station on 101.
