Dynamo duo complete 120-mile ride
12:00pm Friday 9th August 2013 in News
TWO Harrow Way pupils successfully completed the 120- mile Dunwich Dynamo to raise money for Sebastian’s Action Trust.
The Dynamo, which takes place overnight, sees participants cycle between Hackney in London and Dunwich on the Suffolk coast.
Josh Ingram and Johnny Ireland, who also play for Andover Rugby Club and are members of the 9th Andover Town Scouts, were accompanied by their dads and completed the ride in 12 hours.
Speaking about the cycle Johnny said: “It didn’t sink in straight away when we crossed the line just what we had achieved, but it certainly has since and we are both really pleased with what we have done.
“I started to feel like I was struggling after about 20 miles but I was able to power through and it wasn’t too bad from there on.
“We prepared well and did a few bike rides locally and also took part in the Thruxton ride which put us in good stead for the Dunwich Dynamo.”
Josh said: “As great as it was to complete the challenge and the 120 miles, the real achievement was raising the money for Sebastian’s Action Trust.
“It was quite strange cycling all through the dark and eventually finishing in the light when the sun rose!”
So far the boys have raised £600 for Sebastian’s Action Trust, which provides support and a purpose- built holiday home for children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.
