ON the eve of the new academic year major changes are under way at the Wellington Academy in Tidworth.
Staff have been informed that ‘following this year’s GSCE results’ college principal Andy Schofield left the academy today.
Mr Schofield was appointed in 2008 and governors have placed on record their appreciation of his contribution to the school which has grown from 450 students to more than 1,100 during his tenure.
The Governors have asked the sponsor, the Berkshire public school Wellington College, to take a more active role in the Academy and with immediate effect Dr Anthony Seldon, the Master of Wellington College, is appointed executive head of the academy.
See next Friday’s Advertiser for public reaction to the news in Tidworth and Ludgershall.
